Since its inception, the Association has been committed to representing the best interest of county law enforcement across the state. It is still, the only statewide organization, to exclusively represent the interest of county law enforcement officers. Each year, at the annual membership meeting, the association studies, discusses and adopts legislative resolutions. As these issues come forward, in the form of legislative bills, they are supported or opposed depending on the impact they have on county law enforcement. In the past the association has had an effective impact on improving the state retirement system, and worked towards creating legislation to create protective status for county jailers. The association has represented county law enforcement on committees that have improved the uniform traffic citation and traffic report, as well as sitting on the law enforcement advisory committee to D.O.T.
The Wisconsin County Police Association has maintained a membership of approximately 1,600 full time members representing nearly every county in the state. We continue to be an important and effective representative of county law enforcement and its officers.
