Green Lake County sheriff Mark Podoll receives a check for $500.00 from Bob Wierenga WCPA Executive Director. Green Lake County recently resurrected their Canine Program with a drug detection dog. The $500.00 contribution was used to offset and help fund the K9 program. Sheriff Podoll stated that the new dog, and handler, were performing quite well, and that he was excited to have the program up and running again.

The Wisconsin County Police Association has hired Sports Legends Marketing of Chicago, Illinois. They are a professional fund raising company who culminate their fund drives with a “celebrity” basketball game. Celebrities, from different sports, take on members of the Wisconsin County Police Association in a fun packed, competitive basketball game. Games are held across the state in correlation with current fund raising campaigns.

Some of the different celebrities you might find at a game include: Jim Morrisy, linebacker for the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers, Allan Ellis, defensive back for the Chicago Bears and San Diego Chargers, Bob Avelinni, Quarterback for the Chicago Bears, Brian Noble, line for the Green Bay Packers, and Jimmy Schwantz, linebacker for the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys. The crowd favorite remains defensive lineman Blaise Winter who played with the Green Bay Packers and the super bowl San Diego Chargers.

Every fan who attends one of our games gets an autograph from any of the celebrities they wish to get one from. Funds gathered through our fund campaigns are used to run the Wisconsin County Police Association and its charitable causes. There are no paid staff members in the WCPA.
